Damn Sippy Cup

This weekend I decided it was time to get firm about ditching the bottle and getting James used to his sippy cup. Up until now, we have been offering him his sippy cup but not forcing him to take it. I started on Monday and decided he was only going to get one bottle before bedtime and that was it.

James HATES sippy cups.

He likes straws, drinking from regular cups, bottles, and everything else besides sippy cups. This is the reaction I get when I give him his hated new cup.

Look at those sad eyes. Clearly disappointed that I gave him this instead of his delicious bottle but not sure how serious I am yet.

Growing concerned that I have not exchanged his sippy cup with a more preferred item. Like a bottle.

Enraged that his mom could do such a thing to him.

Really thirsty and starting to realize there is no bottle on it's way.

Fine, I'll try it but I don't have to like it.

Right after this picture he threw down the sippy cup and threw another fit. Now whenever I offer him the cup he shoves it away. I can tell this is going to be a long road.

Fudgesicles

It's hot already.

By hot I mean 100+ degrees.

I don't mind it so much. I have been in Arizona all my life and hot is just the normal to me. I figure it's a lot more fun to cool off than it is trying to stay warm. I almost bought one of those plastic pools today for James to play in but then I remembered we don't have a hose to fill it up yet. I settled for fudgesicles instead.

After our delicously healthy dinner of frozen pizzas, we enjoyed our 40 calorie dessert in the back yard. James got to eat his in near nakedness and in the grass/weeds.

Every time he would bite the fudgesicle he would make this face and then laugh.

Marcus got to stay home from school today since he threw up right before school. We are pretty sure now that he was fine to go to school since he spent the entire day running around the house and being mommy's little helper. He enjoyed catching his favorite daytime shows that he never gets to see anymore since he is in school now. Especially Max and Ruby.

He really wanted me to taste it. I saw how many times he dropped it and decided to pass.

Jason has been "forgetting" to put on his glasses a lot ever since he got them. He just doesn't know how cute he looks in them yet.

Fudgesicles taste even better after you have rubbed them on the ground a few times.

Mom

For always making time to play with me

For buying my homemade friendship bracelets

For making the best mashed potatoes

For playing spoons

For sock wrestling

For making my birthdays and Christmas magical

For being the cool mom who played video games

For teaching me to use my imagination

For packing us picnic lunches

For loving me no matter what

For trusting me even though most times you shouldn't have

For finding me fast when I was lost in Pharmor

For liking this song

For giving me a trunk full of hairspray and knowing that I would love it

For letting me stay the phone all night on my birthdays

For always being there

For being a nerd like me

For wearing your heart on your sleeves

For making this face

For being my best friend

For all these things I just want to say thank you

I love you mom.

We are in Mourning

Mike's beloved scooter passed away last night on the way home. It's cause of death was determined to be motor-scooter separation. The time of death was at the exact moment the motor fell out of the scooter. Scooter had been deteriorating in health over the past few months. He had just been released from the scooter hospital on the same day of his death.

No word yet on when services will be held.

Scoot Bug

August 2008 to May 2009

The family would like to issue a statement.
Although the death of Scoot Bug was a tragedy, his death will not be in vain. We have all learned from this incident and will get out the word to everyone that we know.

Never buy a Chinese scooter. Ever.

Some befores and not quite afters

I'm sure you are just dying to see pictures of the new house. And since we moved way out into the boonies it will probably be a while before anyone comes to visit us. We, and by we I mean I, aren't quite done with all the decorating yet but you get the idea.

This was sort of before. The painting had already been started so the walls don't looks so delicious as they did at first. Notice the knobless pantry though, all the doors in the house looked that way.

Much better. We got all the appliances off of Craigs List and I even splurged on a fancy dishwasher. It actually cleans the dishes without having to wash them before I put them in. Imagine that!

Eventually we would like to put in tile in all the downstairs, and update the counters and cabinets. Who doesn't want to upgrade their kitchen right? For now we will enjoy what we have.

We had our first handyman out last week to fix our leaky kitchen sink. He also installed the hot water line to the dishwasher. Now if we could just get our icemaker to work we'll be all set!

Front living area before...

Dark semi after picture. This is the one room I am not really too fond of yet. This is the first room you walk into when entering the house. Our big dining room table has to go in here and we also put the second tv and video games in here too. There really isn't anyplace to put a couch or chairs to sit so you just sort of pass through the room. I'll have to figure something creative out for this room.

The boys have gotten right back into their normal routine as you can see.

Living room before picture

After

A work in progress but already it is my favorite room in the house. We need to hang up our wall decor and I would like to get a cream colored shag rug and a few blue throw pillows that match the curtains but it's a comfortable room.

I will have more pictures soon. Things are definitely coming along. Kiddos are hungry now and I also have a hungry kitten so I better get back to my motherly duties!

This guy

(with the permission of those little guys).

Married this girl

On a VERY windy day.

They were so in love.

And still are.

And got to celebrate with all these people

They danced the night away, and had the time of their life.

Happy anniversary baby.

I still remember that beautiful night like it was yesterday.

I am the worst mom ever

Do you ever have one of those days that you wish you could take back. I wish I could travel back about 12 hours and just shake myself! Today Marcus had a concert at school and guess who forgot. That's right, me. I have been so consumed with unpacking, James being sick (again!), home repairs, and a million other things that I forgot about the most important thing of the day!

Being there for my son.

Marcus ran to the van when I picked him up after school and yelled at me "Mom! Where were you?" Then he just started crying. That was when I felt like the worst mom ever. What kind of mom doesn't go to their child's concert?? I gave him a huge hug and told him how sorry I was but that isn't good enough and I know it.

I wasn't there.

I need to remember what is important even when there are a million other things going on. That is my job.

I will never miss another school concert again. Ever.

On a different note, notice anything different about this boy?

That's right, Mr Jason wears glasses now. I just recently found out that he has been sitting on the floor at the front of the classroom because he had been having trouble seeing. He had an eye appointment today and yes, he needed glasses.

I think they look pretty cute on him! Sort of Harry Potterish. Maybe for Halloween I will draw a lightning bolt on his forehead.

Now the million dollar question, how many days before he breaks them? Or hours.

Eggos

This was a bad idea, but for Easter my mom and I thought it would be fun if we had an Eggo waffle eating contest. We are both huge fans of Eggos and I was sure I could take her. I was so confident I even had a few rounds of sausage to go with it. I had made an early prediction that I could do about 12 waffles.

WRONG!

The first four were delicious!

The next two were tolerable.

The last two that I managed to take down were bordering on ruining my taste for eggos for the rest of my life.

I had to draw the line.

My hat goes off to the champion who easily pounded ten eggos and just had to rub it in by saying that two more would be no problem.
